You are warmly invited to the UMass MFA Program for Poets & Writers 50th Anniversary Celebration on March 28th and 29th, 2014 on the UMass campus! Come back to the Pioneer Valley. Come see one another. Come hear our stories. Come live in the expanse of our hard, hard work.
The weekend will shine with lots of time to reconnect, readings from UMass faculty Valerie Martin and John Ashbery, and a Bartlett Museum. There will be installations built by UMass ventures like jubilat and Flying Object. There will be a commemorative film in the works. There will be a Grand Timeline, an installation showing the history of the program and built from our work. There will be lots to drink and lots to eat.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by MARCH 14 (and please note if you will be bringing a guest). Anything you might want to know, including a schedule of events, will be found on this site (please refer to the individual page links above).
We will also be posting updates on the official UMass Amherst MFA for Poets and Writers 50th Anniversary Celebration Facebook page, so please join!
From the Head of Special Collections at the W. E. B. DuBois Library, Rob Cox:
In collaboration with the university’s Department of Special Collections and University Archives, we are celebrating the 50thanniversary of the MFA Program for Poets and Writers by building an archive of the MFA Program. With your help, we plan to assemble a comprehensive collection of chapbooks and broadsides, novels, collections of short stories, screenplays, manuscripts, and any other writing you have done that will be permanently housed in the University Libraries.
